About Us!

Ever since its beginning three years ago, Viking Robotics, also known as Team 4098, has aspired to achieve the same goals as those of First Robotics: to attract, stimulate, and motivate young adults to take an interest and part in science, engineering, and technology. Team 4098 consists of many dedicated high school students and several coaches. These include Amanda Dunham, Carla Lilly, and Steve Anderson. They work daily to inspire students and to help them to achieve their goals.

Robotics:
What We Stand For

01

This year's challenge is called Steamworks. As the name implies, the challenge is steampunk themed, and the challenge is multi-faceted. Two three-team alliances face off in a race to launch their "airships"; each alliance must feed fuel cells to the boilers located on each side of the field to provide power to their respective airships, which are located in the middle of the field. For the airships to operate, however; each alliance

must also send up gears to team members

within the airship, where they will be fitted

into place and used to power four separate

propellers. Some unique aspects of this years

project are the nature of the hands-on aspect

of the competition as well as its theme. We

look forward to seeing how our fellow teams

will tackle this challenge!

  • First Robotics is the very definition of “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

  • Due to the support of numerous extraordinary people and organizations, First Robotics has become one of the most significant contributors in influencing and shaping the lives of young people all across the country.

  • First’s mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” By no means is this all that First Robotics does, but it is a small start to describing all that it encompasses.

  • First is “MORE THAN ROBOTS.” Not only does this highly expansive and inspirational organization build within students the qualities of great leaders, it also gives back to its community and to the environment. The impacts made to the environment, to students seeking college aid, and to everyone else that First Robotics affects is immeasurable.
